The month of March is coming to an end. For those men who used it to learn more about the accomplishments and challenges of women across the globe, congratulations. For those who did not, you have missed out on a great opportunity to expand your range of knowledge.

For both those who used this month to learn about women and those who did not, I have a message for you. Although the month of March is coming to an end, the opportunities to celebrate the accomplishments, sacrifices and contributions of women and address the challenges and hardships they experience are endless. Let us be proactive and capitalize on these opportunities.

Below are five ways to continue showing love to the women that were here, are here and will one day be here.

1. Stay aware of the obstacles women face

Over the last few decades, there have been changes that improve how women are treated, perceived and experience life. However, the work is not done. There is evidence showing that women continue to experience obstacles that are linked to their gender. These obstacles include workplace discrimination, violence (for example harassment and rape), and objectification.

We may be unaware of the obstacles women face because we are men and are not directly affected by their obstacles. We may (as men) even benefit from the obstacles they are dealing with. To stay aware, be proactive about reading and listening to media outlets that report on women’s issues. Do not stop at awareness, do something.

2. Post on social media to spread awareness about women

An easy way to continue celebrating the accomplishments of women and raise awareness about obstacles that women face is to share. Share whatever you can. This can include articles, inspiring quotes, videos, and other content.

3. Write a thank you note to a woman that inspires you

Take a few moments and write a short note to a woman who has positively contributed to your life. This can mean a lot to her. Your note does not need to be long, but should be thoughtful. Thoughtful means a note that focuses on the value that woman contributes and not on some aspect of their physical appearance. Not sure where to start? Here are a few examples:

  • The ideas you come up with always help me move forward. Thank you.
  • Thank you for all the sacrifices you have made.
  • The quality of the work you do is phenomenal.
  • Thank you for being brave and saying what you said.
  • You always try to help us avoid issues. Thank you
  • Thank you for being a strong and compassionate leader

4. Read books written by women

Like to read? There are hundreds of thousands of books, articles, magazines and other reading materials written by women. Seek them out and read them. Share them. Recommend them.

5. Have a women-themed virtual trivia night

For those of you who like games, consider hosting a series of women-themed trivia nights. Trivia games are a great way to have fun and expanding your knowledge at the same time.
